I decided to do some blindfold experiments with 2 of my grandchildren (S) who is 10 years old and (O), 12 years old.
After blindfolding (S) I gave her a number of different coloured books. She was obviously trying to guess the colours and got everyone wrong!
Next, I blindfolded (O) with (S) acting as a witness. Firstly, I gave him a red book which he got immediately this was followed by one with a green cover. Again he was able to identify the colour straightaway.
I then thought I would pick something more challenging so opted for a black book. With no hesitation he identified the colour perfectly. At this point (S)’s mouth fell open.
When questioned (O) explained that he wasn’t actually seeing the colours, he just knew somehow what they were. This new found ability has resulted in him having more self confidence.
